This page explains how we collect, store, and manage personal information across our organisation in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.

ACI processes personal data on the lawful bases of contract, legal obligation, legitimate interest, or consent, depending on the context. Data is collected only where necessary for:

  • Membership administration and accreditation

  • Training, supervision, and CPD record keeping

  • Communication with members, students, and the public

  • Compliance with regulatory and legal requirements

ACI may collect personal data including (but not limited to):

  • Identification and contact information (name, address, email, phone number)

  • Professional information (qualifications, CPD records, supervision details, accreditation applications)

  • Financial information related to membership fees or training payments

  • Limited sensitive data where required for ethical and regulatory purposes

All personal data is stored securely, whether in electronic or paper format, with appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure.

Personal data is never sold or shared for marketing purposes. Data may be shared only where necessary:

  • With regulators, professional bodies, or accrediting authorities where required by law

  • With service providers engaged by ACI to support organisational functions (subject to GDPR-compliant agreements)

Data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfil its purpose and in line with statutory, ethical, and professional guidelines.

Under GDPR, all individuals have the right to:

  • Access their personal data

  • Request rectification of inaccurate information

  • Request erasure, restriction, or portability of their data (where applicable)

  • Withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis for processing

  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission
