How to Become an Accredited Member
The Addiction Counsellors of Ireland offers accreditation under seven categories. You may apply directly online, or by downloading application forms and submitting via email or post.
Once your application is successful you become a member of the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland. Please note that members must renew annually. The membership year runs from 1st August, to 31st July.
Associate Membership
Associate Membership is open to anyone who supports the aims of the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland. To apply please complete the following:

Addiction Worker Membership
To apply for accreditation under the Addiction Worker category applicants must have successfully completed a recognised training course in Addiction Studies at QQI Level 5 as per the requirements set out in the Criteria documentation.

Pre-Accredited Membership
Pre-Accredited Membership is assigned to individuals who have successfully completed a recognised core training course in Addiction Counselling at QQI Level 8 approved by or accepted by the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland.

Accredited Membership
Members must be Pre-Accredited for twelve months before applying for full Accreditation. To apply please complete the following:

Inactive Membership
This category is for Accredited Members who for the time being have ceased to be actively engaged in addiction counselling, for an agreed limited time, up to a maximum of two years. It protects Accredited Membership status, while also protecting the public. Inactive members of the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland cannot offer counselling to clients

Clinical Supervisor Membership
Applicants must be a fully accredited counsellor with ACI at QQI Level 8 for a minimum of 5 years prior to date of application and have successfully completed a core training course (as outlined in 5.1 of the Membership Criteria)
