🌟 ACI AGM 2025, Celebrating 35 Years Together 🌟

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday, 21st June for our Annual General Meeting in Portlaoise.

Despite the lure of the sunshine, we were delighted with such a strong turnout - a true reflection of the commitment and engagement of our members. The day was filled with connection, reflection, and thoughtful discussion.

We were pleased to welcome three guest speakers:

  • Eimear Wright, ACI Communications Officer, who shared an overview of our communications activity over the past year.

  • Dr. Peter Kelly, who delivered Drug Policy in Ireland: A Nursing Perspective, offering a considered and timely look at current practice and policy.

  • Dr. James O’Shea, who presented a 12-month review of Extended Brief Interventions, sparking practical insights and discussion.

We also took the opportunity to mark a significant milestone: 35 years of Addiction Counsellors of Ireland. It was a valuable moment to reflect on how far we have come as a professional body, and to look forward to the future.

Finally, we extend our sincere thanks to John Devlin, who announced that he will be stepping down as ACI Chair. We are deeply grateful for the flair, dedication, and steady leadership he has brought to ACI throughout his many years of service. His vision and commitment have made a lasting impact on both the organisation and the wider addiction field in Ireland.
